There's no getting away from it, hacking hasn't exactly been scarce on Bin Weevils, even from the very beginning. However the recent hacking and exposure of personal details has been the worst since Bin Weevils launched 8 years ago. Many accounts had their passwords and email addresses leaked thanks mainly to a major security flaw in Bin Weevils' database. The problem was amateur which, with all due respect, was a stupid one to make. From what I understand, they save all their users' information and details as encrypted text files, meaning all anyone had to do to get at them was use pretty mediocre-level hacking skills to break in. I'm not experienced with coding or encryption or anything like that but I know there are far more secure ways of storing details than that. Today, Bin Weevils issued a statement apologising for the leak of details which, though very late, is noble of them.
Though they made a huge mistake and continued not to improve security despite multiple hacking threats, it can't be easy for them. Not only are they losing money from having to extend membership times to subsidise the missing days, but nobody will be purchasing new memberships or topping up on Dosh. People may also be scared off after this massive security breach, and if some player's parents find out they could stop their child from playing for fear of a similar situation arising once more.
To clear up, the report supposedly posted on the BBC News website concerning Bin Weevils CEO James Stanners being a tax fraud is indeed fake, as is clearly shown by the tab displaying a different article name and the URL being obscured. Also nowhere in the fake article does it mention tax despite apparently being about taxes.
Bin Weevils have promised to step up security and for everyone's sake, including theirs, I hope they fulfill this. They've mentioned 'Rigg building a new area' which, in my own personal opinion, I think will just be a rushed apology for being unavailable for so long. Oh, and also for leaking a considerable amount of player's personal details, leaving their accounts vulnerable to anything. Almost forgot.

I've been really busy recently and things aren't going to get any less hectic in my life, so I've come to realise that realistically I'm not going to be making any more shows. I know I've made promises and as usual have not fulfilled them, but I really don't have the time or patience to continue. Recently Bin Weevils has been declining quite massively in my opinion and in light of recent events, things, I predict, will only get worse. So I think now is a sensible time to duck quietly out of the Bin Weevils show-making world and also partially, at least, leave Bin Weevils. It really doesn't interest me like it used to when I was younger and their money-grabbing ways are taking over and stopping it from being the great game it used to be. I've made my fair share of videos and when I was wee I always wanted to be level 50, which I only just achieved despite being on this damn game for over 5 years. I've achieved everything that I set out to do all those years ago, and most importantly, I found GalaxyWeevil, who will no doubt be a friend for life. GalaxyWeevil and I have been really busy recently but we've still been working behind the scenes! Yes we are indeed aware we've not released Bin News episode 2 yet but IT IS COMING along with the large project you would've heard about if you follow us on Twitter. Things are coming soon we promise.
Cube & GalaxyWeevil Ah. It appears that, as usual, I've not fulfilled a promise I have given. Goddamn it. Bin News episode 2 will be released sometime soon but this time I'm not setting a definite date so I don't disappoint again.
Cube I am indeed aware it has been 3 weeks since the last Bin News release. Personal matters are getting in the way somewhat but I can absolutely guarantee episode 2 will be released either this Saturday or earlier! After then there might be a slight delay on episode 3 but then, after that, episodes will be able to be released more frequently!
I am also aware of the somewhat poor quality of episode 1 so here is a list of things that will be improved in episode 2. - The editing - The content (it'll be actual news this time) - The studio - The editing - The editing It'll be far more smooth and polished, I promise. In our excitement of our reunion Galaxy and I wanted to release a new episode as quickly as possible! Cube If you read my previous blog post, you'll remember me mentioning 2 upcoming projects that GalaxyWeevil and I are taking on. Since then I've created 2 new pages, NS1 and NS2, to give details about the new shows as we are able to release them! NS2 is a much bigger project than NS1 and requires infinitely more effort so naturally details about it will be revealed more slowly than those of NS1. If you're impatient however, you can DM @BW_Galaxy to get involved!
Some technical hitches are preventing Bin News from being released, but eventually episode 2 will come! As for The Cube Show I really have no idea when I'll be filming or releasing the next episode but stay tuned anyway. Cube The first episode of The Cube Show was released yesterday! Go have a watch if you haven't already. This episode's guest was a very predictable one I must say but there will be a variety of weevils on the show.
In other news, GalaxyWeevil and I are collaborating once more to make a new Bin News spin-off show. More info will be released soon. We also have a one-off special in the making, and let me tell you, it's a very ambitious project which will take literally months of work! Cube Yes, I am a week late in posting this but if you don't already know, Bin News returned for a new series! Watch the first episode here.
Also, The Cube Show is coming soon! The first episode will be released sometime soon (I hope) but in the meantime you can watch the new advert for it. Sorry for the inactivity, I'm still doing stuff I swear. Cube You heard correctly - GalaxyWeevil and I are back for a fourth series of Bin News! I think this is the first time I've actually worked on a series in 2 years.
If you didn't already know, around a week ago GalaxyWeevil returned to Bin Weevils! Not quite sure why he came back but I'm really glad he did! After 10 minutes of catching up we immediately arranged to make a new series of Bin News. So far we've completed one episode which will air this Saturday. Watch the advert for the new series here. Cube I have decided to change the BWC logo! There are two main reasons for this: The first is that the original BWC logo never really gave any impression that we are anything to do with Bin Weevils at all, hence I added some super antennae. The second reason is that at heart I am petty and argumentative, so for the new BWC logo I used the original Bin Weevils logo font as a ridiculously minor revenge tactic at Bin Weevils for their new, and in my opinion hideous logo change! What in the name of all that is holy is the enormous letter W all about!?
Itching to tell me I'm wrong? Like the new Bin Weevils logo? Tweet me @BinWeevilsCube and we can have an argument. Cube |
